Chief Executive Officer
Eric Musser, CEO of OpenSpan, has more than 20 years’ experience in executive management, guiding companies to growth and profitability. Since Musser joined OpenSpan in 2008, OpenSpan has tripled its revenues and workforce. Musser has established a reputation for helping customers adopt technology to drive enterprise transformations that yield millions of dollars in operational cost savings and revenue growth opportunities.
Prior to OpenSpan, Musser served as CEO of CDC Software. Under Musser’s direction, CDC Software grew to over 3,000 employees with annual revenues surpassing $300 million. Additionally, Musser headed the company’s sales strategy, technology development and acquisition efforts. As President of Industri-Matematik (IMI), Musser led the business to profitability and set the foundation for the company’s future expansion. At Ross Systems, Musser held executive management positions in services, marketing and development, including Chief Technology Officer.
Founder and Chief Technical Officer
Damon Lockwood, OpenSpan Founder and Chief Technology Officer at OpenSpan, has more than 15 years’ experience in bringing contact center and back office innovations to market and leading research and development teams. Lockwood is responsible for OpenSpan’s overall product development and engineering, building innovations that help leading FORTUNE 500 organizations drive operational and financial excellence within their enterprises. Lockwood founded OpenSpan in 2005 with Francis Carden and Stephen Beckett.
Lockwood plays a vital role at OpenSpan in partnering with customer executives to gain insight into their use of OpenSpan solutions as a means to drive new product capabilities and growth of the OpenSpan product and technology stack.
Founder and Chief Scientist
Stephen Beckett, OpenSpan Founder and Chief Scientist at OpenSpan, has more than 20 years’ experience in helping deliver technology innovations to the contact center industry. At OpenSpan, he oversees OpenSpan’s research in a wide range of areas including reverse engineering, operating system internals and emerging technologies. Beckett founded OpenSpan with Francis Carden and Damon Lockwood in 2005.
Prior to OpenSpan, Beckett was a founder and Chief Technical Officer of Witness Systems (now Verint), where he invented the industry’s first Computer Telephony Integration (CTI)-enabled voice and screen recording system. Beckett was CEO at Cliffstone Corporation, where he built the company’s first composite application development suite for contact centers. This solution has since become the real-time business intelligence solution for contact center operations in leading organizations such as DIRECTV and American Express.
Founder and General Manager for EMEA Operations
Francis Carden, OpenSpan Founder and General Manager of EMEA Sales and Operations, has more than 30 years’ experience running multinational technology companies. At OpenSpan, Carden manages sales and operations for the EMEA region and is a respected thought leader in the software automation (human and robotics) and analytics space. Carden founded OpenSpan in 2005 with Stephen Beckett and Damon Lockwood.
Prior to OpenSpan, Carden was founder and CEO of Pixel Innovations Ltd., a company that partnered with technology companies, including IBM, Sun and Microsoft, to offer software integration services. Carden is an active industry speaker and guest columnist, providing expertise in how to leverage automation to drive transformation in the customer-facing areas of enterprise.
Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Strategy
Anna Convery, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Strategy for OpenSpan, has more than 25 years’ experience in enterprise technology, helping FORTUNE 500 companies drive operational and financial excellence leveraging technology innovation to deliver world-class customer experience. Convery’s responsibilities at OpenSpan include global go-to-market strategy and strategic enterprise growth for the company.
Prior to OpenSpan, Convery held senior executive roles at NICE Systems Ltd., ClickFox, Inc., and Nexidia Inc., as well as global marketing and business development roles at IBM Corporation, Jacada Ltd. and Unibol Inc. Named a “Woman of the Year in Technology” by Women in Technology (WIT), Convery has received numerous industry awards and is a respected customer experience and enterprise transformation thought leader.
Executive Vice President, Business Development and International Operations
Rick Marquardt, Executive Vice President of Business Development and International Operations for OpenSpan, has over 30 years’ experience leading global technology organizations. At OpenSpan, Marquardt is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of OpenSpan’s worldwide reseller network and strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining OpenSpan in 2009, Marquardt served as President of CDC Software, parent company of Pivotal Corporation and Ross Systems Inc., where he oversaw technology development, sales and marketing, professional services and administration. Before assuming the role of President, Marquardt held various executive leadership positions within Ross Systems, including President of North American operations. Marquardt has also held senior executive roles at Eftia OSS Solutions, NSE Inc., Distinction Software, Datalogix International and Management Science America, Inc.
Chief Information Security and Risk Officer
Celia Baker, Chief Information Security and Risk Officer for OpenSpan, has more than 20 years’ experience in the enterprise information security industry. At OpenSpan, Baker is responsible for information security, privacy, and risk management.
Prior to OpenSpan, Baker spent more than 12 years leading data security and risk management initiatives within leading global financial services organizations. Baker holds extensive certifications related to security and risk management, is an active member of the State Bar of California, and also holds memberships in the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and the Information Systems Audit & Control Association.
Baker holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Juris Doctor degree from Concord Law School.
Vice President, Customer Care
Fritz Yoder, Vice President of Customer Care for OpenSpan, has more than 25 years’ experience in the management, configuration and support of contact centers for technology organizations. At OpenSpan, Yoder oversees the company’s customer care and internal support operations. Yoder also serves as the primary interface between customers and the OpenSpan development team during system installation and standard follow-up service.
Prior to joining OpenSpan, Yoder served as Vice President of Operations for Cliffstone Corporation, a developer of computer systems for contact centers. In that capacity, Yoder established distribution channels and developed and managed the company’s support infrastructure. Throughout his career, Yoder has provided product feature guidance from both the end user and maintenance personnel perspectives.
Ellen Ray, General Counsel for OpenSpan, has more than 25 years of experience in technology law and contract execution. At OpenSpan, Ray is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company from a legal perspective and is an integral part of the customer contract process.
Prior to joining OpenSpan, Ray was a partner with DLA Piper in Atlanta, Georgia, where she served on the Technology Transactions Team. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Ray was a partner with King & Spalding on the Corporate Team, focused on technology and outsourcing transactions.
Ray received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Emory University, a Juris Doctor degree from Emory University and a Masters of Laws degree from the University of Alabama.
Global Business and Technical Leadership
Vice President, Product Management and Pre-Sales
David Brunner, Vice President of Product Management and Pre-Sales for OpenSpan, has more than 30 years’ experience in product management, strategy and pre-sales functions within the software industry. At OpenSpan, Brunner is responsible for leading the pre-sales organization to support both direct sales efforts and partner sales and enablement globally, delivering both benefits/ROI assessments and working proof-of-concept solutions.
Prior to joining OpenSpan, Brunner held product development, professional services and customer service operations leadership roles within Equifax and S1 Corporation. Brunner is an active member of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG).
Vice President, Global Sales for OpenSpan Intelligence
Scott Merritt, Vice President of Global Sales for OpenSpan Intelligence, has 20 years’ experience in enterprise technology, serving in both consultant and sales leadership roles. At OpenSpan, Merritt is responsible for leading the go-to-market strategy and supporting sales organization for OpenSpan Workforce Intelligence, a SaaS enterprise application that captures employee productivity data from the desktop and equips operational leaders with new insights to better understand, manage and engage their workforce.
Prior to joining OpenSpan, Merritt worked as a Lean Process Consultant for Guidon Performance Solutions where he led a number of process reengineering engagements with several Fortune 50 companies. Merritt earned his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification over the course of his 10-year tenure at Cardinal Health in the finance, supply chain and operations business units.
Vice President, Services
Chris Wolfe, Vice President of Services for OpenSpan, has more than 20 years’ experience leading strategic services organizations within technology companies. At OpenSpan, Wolfe is responsible for the technology and business consulting services teams focused on delivering OpenSpan Automation solutions that drive business value in terms of operational efficiencies, cost savings and improved customer experience.
Prior to joining OpenSpan, Wolfe served for nearly a decade in senior leadership roles at CDC Software, overseeing professional services consulting practices for a broad portfolio of technology solutions. Wolfe also has extensive experience in developing and executing large-scale corporate acquisition initiatives focused on delivering operational excellence and driving customer success.
Vice President, Engineering
Chris Jenkins, Vice President of Engineering at OpenSpan, has more than 20 years’ experience in software development and engineering. At OpenSpan, Jenkins is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the product development, SQA, maintenance and DevOps teams.
Prior to OpenSpan, Jenkins served as vice president of engineering for Ipswitch where he was responsible for the development of the company’s next generation product portfolio. Jenkins spent 13 years as vice president of development for Click Squared, where he led the design, implementation and execution of a SaaS based multi-channel campaign management enterprise platform.

Danny McDougald, Chief Architect and Vice President of Engineering for OpenSpan, has more than 20 years’ experience in software development and engineering. A founding member of the OpenSpan team in 2005, Danny leads multiple engineering teams focused on developing innovative, cutting-edge automation and analytics solutions.

Vice President, Intelligence
Chuck Miller, Vice President of Intelligence for OpenSpan, has more than 20 years’ experience in applying technology solutions to business operations to drive performance improvement and operational efficiencies. At OpenSpan, Miller leads the product management and services teams for OpenSpan Workforce Intelligence, a SaaS enterprise application that captures employee productivity data from the desktop and equips operational leaders with new insights to better understand, manage and engage their workforce.
Prior to OpenSpan, Chuck held senior IT and business optimization leadership roles within Florida Blue, where he championed the adoption of OpenSpan Automation solutions across the enterprise, helping the company realize multi-million dollar operational cost savings.
