OpenSpan and Software AG recently partnered to extend Software AG's webMethods product suite to corporate desktop environments. By leveraging OpenSpan, webMethods customers can rapidly integrate a wide range of desktop and other legacy applications, streamlining critical processes for business users.

OpenSpan extends a number of leading Software AG technologies to desktop environments, including:

• CentraSite and ESB – OpenSpan enables desktop and other legacy applications to be exposed as services and participate in Software AG ESB solutions. Additionally, by leveraging OpenSpan, any existing application can become a consumer of Web services published in CentraSite. OpenSpan also supports messaging integration in addition to Web services.
• Business Process Management and Business Activity Monitoring – OpenSpan enables you to fully integrate desktop applications into corporate BPM processes. Manual desktop processes can be fully automated and driven by the BPM process, eliminating human intervention altogether when desired. OpenSpan also extends Software AG BAM solutions by providing access to desktop- or user-level performance events. Software AG Composite Application Framework (CAF) customers can also extend their CAF solutions to virtually any desktop or legacy application, even those without available APIs or adapters.
• Application Modernization – OpenSpan extends Software AG application modernization solutions to desktop and other challenging legacy applications, effectively helping organizations to do more with less by deriving more value from their existing IT investments. OpenSpan supports the Software AG Web Edition by enabling any legacy application accessible to the corporate desktop to be extended, as well as the Software AG SOA Edition, by enabling virtually any mainframe and Windows desktop applications to be service-enabled.
