OpenSpan and Westbrook Technologies Expand Partnership to Deliver the New Enterprise Desktop
Partnership Empowers Customers with Ability to Quickly and Easily Integrate Westbrook’s Fortis Document Management Solution with Existing Enterprise Applications

ATLANTA, August 14, 2007 – OpenSpan, Inc., the enabler of the New Enterprise Desktop, today announced that it has expanded its partnership with Westbrook Technologies, a leader in enterprise document management software for the mid-market. Westbrook is now an OpenSpan Certified Solution and OpenSpan Certified Training Partner, enabling it to more quickly integrate its Fortis document management application with a customer’s existing legacy applications, creating powerful new enterprise desktops that improve employee productivity and overall operational efficiency.  The expanded partnership is based on the success Westbrook Technologies has had as a result of integrating OpenSpan’s core technology into the Fortis EnableIT product, Westbrook’s premier Image Enablement and Desktop Automation product.

“By expanding our partnership with OpenSpan, we can enable our customers to more quickly and cost-effectively integrate an individual document with other enterprise applications, improving internal processes and increasing the power of their employees’ desktops,” said Paul Lord, CEO Westbrook Technologies. “With its unique approach to application integration, the OpenSpan Platform was the only offering we found that could integrate with a large number of legacy systems. Integrating the OpenSpan Platform into our Fortis document management software is helping our customers derive more value from their critical business documents and receive a faster ROI on their IT investments.”

By combining the OpenSpan Platform with Westbrook’s Fortis document management software, customers can visually build integrations between Fortis, legacy applications, Web-based applications and various enterprise applications. Based on the seamless integration between enterprise applications, Westbrook’s customers can automate previously manual business processes, drive greater employee efficiency and reduce operating costs, all without completing costly and time-consuming integration projects or having to replace existing applications.

“We needed a seamless solution to allow us to relate our documents with the information in our ProLaw practice management system.  Westbrook’s Fortis software allows us to do this with little impact on our current processes,” said Jim Baalmann, administrator, Danna McKitrick, P.C. “By using Fortis to manage our documents and leveraging the EnableIT solution to integrate with ProLaw, we are able to retrieve documents using data already stored in ProLaw with a simple click of a button.  There was no need to retrain our staff on a new application and new process.  The solution had an immediate impact on our productivity.”

“We upgraded our document management system to the Fortis solution to streamline the handling of all our paper and electronic documents,” said Jean Bush, project manager at FCSLA. “For quick and accurate document retrieval, we used the OpenSpan Platform to build an application independent document search tool which can be invoked from our policy management and accounting systems. Westbrook and its partners have provided a truly flexible and customizable solution that has enabled our staff to see the complete story from insurance application through final canceled claim check with full audit trails.”

As an OpenSpan Certified Solution and Training Partner, Westbrook and its channel partners are equipped to handle all OpenSpan installations, required training and maintenance. This ensures that Westbrook customers can easily integrate Fortis with virtually any existing legacy application without monopolizing their valuable internal IT resources. Much like Westbrook’s Fortis software, the OpenSpan Platform is easily integrated into any vertical industry solution, providing organizations in healthcare, government, education and manufacturing with a comprehensive platform for integrating any enterprise or desktop application.

“By empowering organizations with the ability to access business documents, automate the creation of new documents and combine data from multiple documents, OpenSpan and Westbrook are providing customers with a powerful platform for driving down IT costs and growing profit margins,” said Francis Carden, CEO of OpenSpan. “With its large mid-market customer base, Westbrook is an ideal partner for OpenSpan as we continue to provide an integration platform where the cost of integration no longer outweighs the investment. With OpenSpan and Westbrook, organizations can more quickly see a return on their IT investment by realizing measurable improvements at every enterprise desktop.”
