OpenSpan Appoints Enterprise Software Veteran Eric Musser as New CEO
Experienced Leader to Exercise Proven Skill Set in Guiding Company through Exceptional Growth Phase

ALPHARETTA, GA, August 12, 2008 – OpenSpan, Inc. , a worldwide leader in desktop productivity and SOA acceleration software, today announced the appointment of Eric Musser to CEO and the promotion of former CEO Francis Carden to chairman of the board. The management team expansion is a response to OpenSpan’s rapid growth over the past 18 months within the Global Financial Services, Insurance, Retail Banking, High Tech, Telecommunications and Contact Center markets.

With a proven record for building successful, high-growth software companies, Musser will work directly with Carden and the entire management team to support OpenSpan’s evolution into an international software company. OpenSpan is experiencing strong domestic and overseas demand for the OpenSpan Platform as organizations realize its potential to enhance business efficiency, improve customer service and increase employee productivity.

“With revenues doubling every six months, OpenSpan needs a proven software veteran with the operational experience to lead the company to the next level,” said Carden. “Eric’s extensive track record and strong technical background is an ideal match for OpenSpan. We are looking forward to accelerating the company’s already explosive growth under Eric’s leadership.”

Before joining OpenSpan, Musser was president and CEO of CDC Software , a wholly owned subsidiary of CDC Corporation (Nasdaq: CHINA; $402.4 million in annualized 2007 revenues). CDC Software was ranked as the 12th largest enterprise application vendor in the MBT 2007 Global 100 List of Enterprise and Supply Chain Management Application vendors. Musser was also named one of the Top 20 Enterprise Software Leaders of 2007 by a leading ERP journal.

During his tenure at CDC Software, Musser’s personal focus was on creating customer value and improving customer satisfaction. These satisfied customers were in turn instrumental in driving the dramatic growth of CDC Software. Musser has also been a highly visible software industry advocate throughout his career, regularly addressing large and small audiences across the globe. He will remain active, speaking about key industry topics such as “Maximizing the Business Value of Software Applications,” “Improving Customer Care by Optimizing Desktop Productivity” and “Accelerating SOA to Desktop Users.”

“I have always had a passion for innovative technologies that solve real business challenges and OpenSpan has already demonstrated an ability to transform our customers’ businesses by streamlining the way workers interact with business applications, shaving significant time off of business workflows and increasing overall desktop efficiency,” said Musser. “With its impressive technology, burgeoning market potential and seasoned management team, I see great potential in OpenSpan and look forward to building on the company’s current momentum to take its growth to the next level.”
