Description

When trying to create an OpenSpan project the error message "Message: Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined" appears.

This error occurs because the Visual Studio environment attempts to write to the following folders; System, ProgramFiles, Startup, Windows, and CommonStartup.

Solution

To correct this error, ensure that all of the following folders are created; System, ProgramFiles, Startup, Windows, and CommonStartup.

For a user who did not have a Startup folder, that folder should be located in C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.
